Sunday 13th November 2011 ~ Inaugural Meeting

White House Inn, Oldham Edge, Greater Manchester

I would like to thank everyone who came along to the Inaugural meeting today, we were able to cover many points, and establish the basic structure of our new club. And a big thank you to Joan the landlady of the White House Inn for her lovely homemade food and hospitailty.

We had a very successful meeting with 16 attending, 2 of which had travelled all the way down from Glasgow and also 2 came from Birmingham. We had a good mix of companion owners and show enthusiasts.

We opened the meeting with electing a chairperson, and went onto elect temporary officers and committee. We discussed the proposed Club name "Northern Tibetan Terrier Club" and we were all in agreement that the name of the club should be accepted,

We also discussed the aims and objectives of the club, we agreed that we want to uphold the recognised standard of the breed, to promote the breed in a positive way for the betterment of the breed, and the general health & welfare of the breed.
We discussed Club Rules and Code of ethics; We put together a draft of the Club Rules that will be discussed and implemented at the next committee meeting. It was agreed that we would adopt the KC Code of Ethics.
Membership of the club was discussed, and it was agreed that the membership should be unlimited and open to all. with the appropriate payment of the annual fees.
We asked what members would want from the new club and we got positive feedback for a club that will hold social events for the companion owners and show enthusiasts alike... items discussed were Grooming Workshops, Health & Education seminars, Organised Dog Walks, Agility, Obedience & Socialisation events for dog and owner, events including a fun day with a Treasure Hunt and Easter Egg Hunt, Young Handler events and a focus on events for children.
We discussed possible venues for the clubs events, and shall we shall be aiming for holding the first Club event Easter Weekend 2012. We also discussed committee members showing at the clubs events and we agreed that committee members would not show at these events.

A Newsletter will be produced and a Website will follow. we shall be holding our next General meeting in February 2012. Date and venue to be announced.

After the meeting we enjoyed a scrumptious hot homemade lunch, it was a gorgeous sunny day so we went for a lovely TT walk with 7 TT's and a Lhasa Apso along a Nature Trail route next to the White House Inn at Oldham Edge, Greater Manchester.
